Big Dreams

Have you ever had a dream for your life that seems unreachable?  It seems too good to be true?  Something that you don’t even try to achieve because you know it won’t be possible?  Do you ever choose to take the easy path rather than the one that will lead you to this so-called “unreachable” goal?
Making goals and keeping them in mind is always a great strategy to become successful and be a great leader. I am a very goal oriented person and I feel accomplished when I strive towards my goals or achieve a goal.
Personally, I have a dream of becoming a store owner of a bridal shop.  I have had an interest in the bridal industry since I was ten years old.  I never really chased after this dream because I felt that it was an unreachable goal that was too good to ever happen.  God knew the desires of my heart and blessed me with a job at a bridal shop, (All the Rage and Studio I Do Bridals) in November as a bridal consultant.
After a few months of working as a bridal consultant, I made the decision to change my major from Elementary Education to Professional Studies.  I still have a concentration in Education, but my main focus is Professional Studies so that I can strive toward my goal in learning more about leadership and management skills.
Many people have questioned my decision to change my major.  I was and am still so passionate about children and teaching others.  I know that whatever I do, I want to serve others.  I love teaching people, and now I get to educate brides on a daily basis on a subject I love.
Like I said earlier, I have been so interested in the bridal industry for years, but I never thought it was a realistic goal.  I knew that I was also passionate about teaching young children, and I knew this goal was much easier to achieve.  It is not always the easiest goal that the Lord has in mind for our lives.  I know this dream is big and will take a lot of work.  But I am confident that the Lord will lead me through it.  He has blessed me with this job and now I have had a glimpse of my true passion.
I have a vision for my future and pray that I can open up a store of my own.  The Lord has given me so many visions and ideas and I am excited to see how he works in my life to make this dream come to fruition.  I absolutely love my job and helping brides find the perfect dress for their wedding day.  I constantly have my end goal in mind.  I take every mistake I make as a learning opportunity.  I build strong relationships with my brides and coworkers.  I get to work early and do my best work.  I put others’ needs before my own.
Most importantly I seek to honor the Lord in every decision I make and that includes glorifying God through my work.  I pray that I will be a blessing to every bride, as well as each coworker, that walks into the store.  I pray that the presence of God will invade the store.  I pray that others can see the love of God so evident in my life that it is something they want too.
I have learned through many life experiences that “we can make our plans but the Lord determines our steps” (Proverbs 16:9).  I will trust the Lord with my life and with my future.  I believe that He has great plans for my life.  And I know that He has given me this opportunity and that “he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion” (Philippians 1:6).
If you have a dream, pray and ask the Lord that He would show you His will for your life.  He has a plan for you and will bless those who seek Him first.

Blessings,

Dani xoxo
